Further details of New York Mets fan favorite Butch Huskey's death have emerged.

A veteran of seven MLB seasons, including five with the New York Mets, died at 54.

Huskey vowed he would wear No. 42 to honor Robinson if he ever played in the major leagues.

Butch Huskey, who played seven major league seasons and was one of the last players to wear No. 42 before it was permanently retired, has died. He was 54.

The former MLB outfielder played for five teams throughout his career, including the Twins, Red Sox, Mariners and Rockies.
