Death toll in Spain’s Ceuta from migrant rush hits 77

A Spanish legal body responsible for the identification work, composed of forensics and Civil Guard experts, said in a statement that authorities in Ceuta had recovered 79 bodies from the sea.

Some of the nearly 60,000 migrants who rushed the border of Ceuta on Thursday still remain in the Spanish territory, but many have returned to Morocco voluntarily, officials said. CBS News' Aidan Stretch has the latest.

Most of the migrants who rushed into Spain’s North African territory have returned to Morocco.

Some of the migrants drowned in the Mediterranean Sea, while others were killed in a deadly crush at a border checkpoint -- prompting Spain to declare a national emergency and mobilize law enforcement authorities to send thousands back across the border.
