Spain is rushing troops and resources to one of its territories in North Africa, after tens of thousands of migrants crossed the border from Morocco into the small city of Ceuta. Geoff Bennett reports.

About 48,000 of the up to 60,000 people who came into Ceuta from Morocco returned within a day. Still, the sudden influx created a crisis for Spain’s pro-immigration government. Nearly three dozen died.

The Ceuta government put the number of immigrants that have entered the city from Morocco in the past 24 hours at 60,000.

Rescue efforts are continuing as time runs down on the critical 72 hour window for rescues following the quake. Officials have not detailed how many people were reported missing but local media say dozens remain unaccounted for.
