The family and friends of Laci Peterson are among the advocates of California murder victims opposing a new parole board policy that would open a path to recommend resentencing or clemency for killers.

A lawsuit was filed last month to try and stop changes being made to California’s parole system that may allow for people serving life sentences to walk free.
