'Clarify algorithmic bias, role in public order': Govt to Meta over PM post

India's government has summoned Meta's global team to discuss Prime Minister Modi's post. Officials will question the social media giant on algorithmic bias and content moderation. Meta's global representatives will also appear before a parliamentary panel for scrutiny. Hyderabad police have also registered cases again

The government earlier this week summoned a top Meta executive after Modi’s recent post addressing India’s youth and promising stringent measures against paper leaks was briefly restricted on Facebook.

The government has also specifically asked Meta to send a technical representative from Instagram, signalling that officials intend to seek detailed explanations about how the platform's systems and algorithms function.

The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has directed public officers in tertiary educational institutions who hold both public office and political party executive positions to resign from their political party roles or be relieved of their public offices.
