Forecasters expect winds to pick up in eastern Washington and Oregon on Friday and Saturday, but not to be as strong as last weekend’s were.

Authorities reported that three fires burned more than 10,000 acres, destroying hundreds of buildings and forcing thousands of residents to evacuate.
