Le Butter Shop, billed as Paris’ first boutique devoted entirely to butter, opened last month a short walk from the Eiffel Tower — with 30 varieties from small family producers in Brittany, the Loire Valley and northern France.

From croissants to sauces, crêpes to kouign-amann (the Breton butter cake which will make any gourmand melt), France knows a thing or two about butter. Now, its capital has its own dedicated butter shop. And some of the varieties may surprise you...
