Builders renovating a house in Belgium have discovered a stash of gold reportedly worth some €9m (£7.6m) sealed into the walls of its cellar.

A group of builders were left shocked when they stumbled upon £7.5 million worth of gold coins and ingot while working on a routine job, although they weren't allowed to keep the find

"We kept digging up new coins and bars ... Only then did it really sink in what we had found. That was a crazy feeling."

Construction workers found the stash in the walls of a cellar while drilling to lay sewage pipes.

Hobbyists Alan Daniels and Andy Crammond unearthed three Bronze Age gold bracelets near Carlisle, England, dating to 1100 B.C. The items are now under British Museum review.
