Borders not closed, Tunji-Ojo faults Atiku’s plan to reopen land borders

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has faulted former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s plan to reopen Nigeria’s land borders if elected President in 2027, saying the country’s borders are not closed and therefore cannot be reopened. Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has dismissed claims by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar that Nigeria's land borders remain closed, insisting there is nothing left to reopen since the borders were not shut in the first place.

The presidency said it was unable to understand which land borders Atiku intended to reopen, insisting that Nigeria’s borders with neighbouring countries are already open.
