Australia’s recorded music industry will bar tracks wholly generated by artificial intelligence from official charts as burgeoning generative technologies threaten artists’ livelihoods, a representative said on Tuesday.

Under new rules, recordings developed using generative A.I. will only be allowed if they are “substantially human-made,” the peak body says.

The ARIA chart is drawing a line between artists who use AI as a tool and songs created largely by machines.
