Atta Akyea says NPP’s protest seeks to highlight threats to Ghana’s democracy

Former Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South, Samuel Atta Akyea, says the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) “Democracy Under Attack” demonstration was aimed at drawing attention to what he described as growing concerns over Ghana’s democratic principles under the administration of President John Dramani Mahama.

Ghana’s main opposition party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has staged protests accusing the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) government of undermining democracy, restricting free speech and targeting political opponents.
