At least 13 killed in Ukrainian drone strike on Russia's Tatarstan region, officials say

It is one of the deadliest Ukrainian drone attacks on Russia since the start of Moscow's war on Ukraine.

Ukraine launched hundreds of drones at targets inside Russia, according to Russian officials. The strikes killed at least 12 people in one of Kyiv's deadliest attacks since the Russian invasion began over four years ago.

Ukrainian drones struck Nizhnekamsk on the morning of August 10, the independent Telegram channel Astra reported, citing local residents. Nizhnekamsk Mayor Radmir Belyaev said a drone threat was declared at 5:30 a.m. but gave no further details.

Ukraine launched one of its largest reported drone attacks against Russia, with Moscow claiming more than 450 UAVs targeted 16 regions and occupied Crimea. Authorities in Tatarstan said 12 people were killed and 39 injured, while Ukrainian sources reported a fire at an oil refinery.

The attack is another in Ukraine's campaign against Russia's oil and gas facilities.
