American Airlines is finally bringing back seatback screens after nearly 10 years in a premium push to win back customers

American is coping with a massive profit gap to competitors amid rising jet fuel costs and a movement towards luxury travel.

It is part of what has been described as “one of the most significant investments in the onboard experience” in the airline’s history.

American also plans to add seatback screens to more than 800 narrow-body aircraft, with retrofits beginning in 2028 and wrapping up in the early 2030s.

In an announcement on Tuesday, the carrier promised screens at every seat in its narrow-body fleet, along with an expansion of its premium seating.
