Ageing GWCL pipelines dating back to 1960s driving water losses – MD laments

Some pipelines used by Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) have been in service since the 1960s, contributing to persistent leakages and water losses, the company’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Adam Mutawakilu, has disclosed.

The metro is battling thousands of water-leak complaints while some communities go without water for weeks, and failing wastewater infrastructure is sending raw sewage into rivers, estuaries and the sea.
