PROVO, Utah (AP) — The murder case against the Utah man accused of assassinating conservative activist Charlie Kirk last year is headed for trial, and the defendant could face the death penalty if he’s convicted.

Nearly one year after Charlie Kirk’s murder, a judge ruled that suspected killer Tyler Robinson should stand trial. Erika Kirk spoke out after the ruling.

Robinson faces seven charges, among them aggravated murder for endangering the lives of others at the event. That count carries the death penalty in Utah.

The judge also allowed prosecutors to seek the death penalty against the man, who is accused of assassinating the conservative activist last year.
