AC Milan and Italy football legend Franco Baresi dies aged 66

Baresi won three European Cups and six Scudettos with AC Milan, as well as the 1982 World Cup with his country.

Franco Baresi, the legendary Milan and Italy captain, who's died aged 66, leaves behind a unique legacy of trophies, titles and a record of defending the club's iconic red and black colours for more than two decades.

"Milan is in tears following the passing of Franco Baresi. His example and integrity will be forever etched into the Club's DNA, just as his iconic number 6 shirt is," AC Milan, of which Baresi became honorary vice-president in 2020, wrote on X.
