A Gold Pit Collapsed in Central Africa and Killed Miners From Three Countries

The Central African Republic has suspended mining at Zamboye after a collapse its mines minister says killed 49 people, including twelve Cameroonians and two Chadians.

[RFI] A deadly landslide at a gold mine on the Cameroon-Central African Republic border has triggered calls for greater oversight of mining operations, after dozens of people were killed and many more were reported missing.

According to the Baboua public prosecutor, the incident is believed to have been caused by "the collapse of several underground tunnels in which miners were operating."
