5 people in recovery after shooting at Virginia State University; multiple suspects at large

Police say multiple suspects were involved in the Virginia State University campus shooting that wounded five on Saturday.

None of the victims were killed in the 1.30am shooting, but one is fighting for their life in hospital as of Saturday evening.

At least one of the wounded people was later confirmed to be a student, Virginia State University said in a statement.

Police responded to reports of a shooting outside a residence halls at about 01:28 local time (05:28 GMT) on Saturday.

The shooting happened near the university’s Quad Annexes, and both campus and Chesterfield County police are actively investigating, a university statement said.
