2 oil tankers struck on Strait of Hormuz; no casualties reported

Two oil tankers have been struck by unknown projectiles on the Strait of Hormuz amid renewed fighting between Iran and the United States.

Oil prices on Tuesday extended their increase from morning action after the U.S. military said it struck Iranian targets in the Strait of Hormuz in response to Tehran’s overnight attacks on ships transiting the vital waterway.

The ships were hit near Oman on Monday, the latest attacks on vessels in the Persian Gulf. Oil prices rose more than 2 percent.

The increase in shipping attacks comes after a period of relative calm in the war
