Yankees reveal next step in Luis Gil's injury recovery
The New York Yankees have a strong pitching staff in the Majors. There may no longer be room for a former American League Rookie of the Year. However, the right-hander will attempt to crack the AL East club's bullpen before the regular season concludes. Recently, the Yankees assigned right-hander Luis Gil to High-A Hudson Valley for a rehab assignment. On May 8, Gil went on the IL at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre with right shoulder inflammation. Last night was his first in-game appearance on the mound since being placed on the IL. "Gil allowed a leadoff hit on the first pitch that he threw against High-A Wilmington, but he then immediately forced a pop-out to the second baseman on the following pitch," MLB.com's Matthew Ritchie reported.
