A doctor has explained why06:29, 30 Jul 2026The hot weather may be perfect for barbecues and beach days, but it can also increase the risk of a common infection that affects many women, a doctor has warned.‌Cystitis – a common urinary tract infection (UTI) affects around one in three women by the age of 24. One in three women will go on to suffer recurrent cystitis. Hot weather, increased sweating, dehydration and lingering in wet swimwear can all increase the risk of infection.‌“Studies show that warmer weather increases the risk for UTIs,” said Dr Janine David, women’s health expert and adviser to Effercitrate Tablets: “Often it’s because sweat around the groin area can encourage bacterial growth.”‌“Hot weather can also lead to dehydration, meaning urine becomes more concentrated and we
