Woman, granddaughter killed after being run over by train in Cumilla

A woman and her granddaughter were killed after being run over by a train near Cumilla Railway Station on Tuesday evening.The deceased were identified as Jotsna Begum, 60, of Uttarpara area in Muradnagar upazila headquarters, and her granddaughter Chandni Akter, 14, daughter of Jahangir Alam, said police.According to the relatives of the deceased, Jotsna Begum had come to Cumilla city from Muradnagar to take her granddaughter Chandni to a doctor.After medical consultation, they were crossing the rail line on their way to the bus stand to return home. At that time, both were struck and killed by the Chattogram-bound Subarna Express.Sub-Inspector Sohrab Hasan, in-charge of the Cumilla Railway Police Outpost, confirmed the incident.SI Sohrab Hasan said police recovered both the bodies.
