White Sox, Rays interested in recently released Braves shortstop
The Atlanta Braves designated a seven-year Major League shortstop for assignment last week. On Monday, the NL East club released the 31-year-old after his 65-game stint with the organization. That player is Jorge Mateo, who is already gaining interest from other clubs around the Majors, according to Francys Romero. "Jorge Mateo was granted his release by the Braves and is expected to sign soon, with several teams showing interest, including the White Sox and Rays, per sources," Romero wrote on X. Mateo signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the Braves during the offseason.
