What a SAT Invoice Really Needs, and Why Clients Can’t Demand Your Constancia
Mexico's SAT has confirmed that issuing a CFDI invoice requires only the recipient's RFC, name, postal code and tax regime, all verifiable in SAT systems. The full Constancia de Situación Fiscal is not required, and demanding it is an infraction under the Código Fiscal de la Federación that carries fines of MXN 21,000 to 120,000, roughly US$1,230 to US$7,030. Here is what freelancers, remote workers and tenants in Mexico actually have to hand over, and how to report a client who refuses.
