Weekend rush: Homestays, temples to see double footfall across Karnataka’s hill stations

MURALI KUMAR With Independence Day falling on a Saturday, homestays and hotels in Kodagu, Sakleshpur and Chikkamagaluru are in full demand.H.L. Giridhar, office-bearer, Chikkamagaluru Homestay Association, said, “Most homestays here are full and bookings were done a week ago. Every weekend, we received somewhere around 2,500 to 3,000 guests only across all homestays. This weekend, there are 6,000 to 8,000 guests. However, the prices have remained the same, ranging from ₹2,000 to 2,500 per night.”Ibrahim, another homestay owner maintaining a heritage property in Kodagu, said, “The homestay that I am currently running is fully bo
