Vikings JJ McCarthy update shows he might not even be the backup quarterback

We all kind of understood that J.J. McCarthy found himself in a really tough spot this training camp. The former Michigan standout, who was selected in the first round by the Minnesota Vikings, hasn't had the early career that he's been hoping for. It's unfortunate that McCarthy has dealt with some injuries and other factors, but simply put, he just hasn't been the guy Minnesota's looking for. As a result, the Vikings went out and got Kyler Murray.There seems to be an expectation that whoever didn't win the job would be the backup quarterback. However, according to the latest, there's now a feeling that if McCarthy continues to struggle at this level, a guy like Carson Wentz could actually be the QB2.“That’s really up to J.J.
