Urgent appeal for blood donors in Manchester amid 'significant shortfall' in stocks

NewsGreater Manchester NewsHealth"We must act now to avoid stocks falling even further"13:29, 03 Aug 2026An urgent appeal has been issued for people in Manchester to donate blood amid a 'signficant shortfall' in stocks.‌Stocks of blood are currently under 'increased pressure', the NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) said, particularly now we are in the summer months. The hot weather, holidays and high demand for blood and platelets are all 'significantly impacting supplies'.‌People in Manchester have been urged to book donation appointments at the Plymouth Grove Donor Centre or the Norfolk House Donor Centre, which is next to the Arndale shopping centre, if they are able to help.
