Emergency services were called to the town centre on Tuesday evening (August 18).‌Police cordons were placed on Stamford Street, Warrington Street and Wood Street. Forensics were seen carrying out work on Delamere Street which is understood to be linked to the incident.‌All police blockades remain in place today (August 19). Officers say they were called to reports of assaults including a non-toxic liquid substance and stabbings.‌The liquid is now believed to be chilli oil.
