Two killed in truck-pickup collision in Sirajganj; locals block road

A milk trader and the driver of a pickup van were killed when a loaded truck collided head-on with the vehicle in Sirajganj’s Ullapara early today, prompting locals to block the Bogura-Nagarbari highway for two hours.The deceased were Md Saddam Hossain, 30, a milk trader, and Rezwan, 30, who was driving the van, Hatikumrul Highway Police Station Sub-Inspector Kishore Kumar confirmed.The accident occurred around 4:00am in Patdhari Bazar area as the pickup was heading towards Shahzadpur Bazar, said Md Ismail Hossain, officer-in-charge of Hatikumrul Highway Police Station.The truck, carrying iron rods, collided head-on with the pickup, the OC said, adding that the truck driver fled, leaving the vehicle on a narrow road beside the highway.
