Two killed as speeding car hits bike near Vikravandi

Two persons on a motorcycle were knocked down by a speeding car at Kappiyampuliyur near Vikravandi on Sunday night.The names of the victims were given as Swaminathan, 64, of Kilmungiladi near Chidambaram and Baskaran, 62, of Panayapuram.According to the police, the accident occurred around 9 p.m. when the duo was on the way to Vikravandi. As the two were approaching Kappiyampuliyur, a speeding Chennai-bound car hit them and sped away. While Swaminathan died enroute to the hospital, Baskaran succumbed to injuries at the Government Villupuram Medical College and Hospital.A case has been registered.
