Two huge wildfires continue to rage as fire service issues updates

One broke out early on Friday on the Rhondda Fach valley's Maerdy mountain while the other has been burning since last Sunday on Blaenavon's Mynydd Garnclochdy mountain.‌Speaking about the Blaenavon blaze, South Wales fire and rescue service said it is "continuing to make progress".‌"The perimeter firebreak, which was cut with the help of contractors, Natural Resources Wales and other partners, is currently holding," its spokesperson said.‌"Along with three fire appliances and an all-terrain vehicle, effort is now concentrated on the work of bowsers to keep the perimeter soaked, to maintain the line of protection."SWF
