Twins sign ex-Yankees, Padres reliever with 6.09 ERA
The Minnesota Twins remain in the American League Wild Card hunt. As of Sunday morning, they were just one game back of the third and final spot in the AL. Before their final postseason push, the Twins signed a new reliever to a minor league contract. "The Twins signed Ron Marinaccio to a minor league contract, assigning him to Class AAA St. Paul," Bobby Nightengale of the Minnesota Star Tribune reported. "Marinaccio owned a 6.09 ERA in 57 2/3 innings this year with the Padres, Pirates and Reds. He’s totaled 48 strikeouts and 27 walks." Marinaccio, 31, cleared waivers after being designated for assignment by the Cincinnati Reds earlier this week. The right-hander started the season with the San Diego Padres and posted a 4.79 ERA with 38 strikeouts in 47 innings. MORE: Diamondbacks' Corbin
