Trump Bucks Congress By Refusing To Sign Housing Bill Over SAVE America Act
July 10, 2026 10:55 AM ET President Donald Trump declared Friday he would not sign a major housing bill into law over the Senate’s inaction on the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) America Act. Trump canceled the signing of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act on June 24 until the Senate passed the SAVE America Act, which would require proof of citizenship for voter registration and government-issued identification at the voting booth.
