‘True gentleman’ dies in electrocution at five-star Southampton hotel

A father-of-one died after being electrocuted while working at a five-star hotel, a coroner has found.Jason Gledhill was found dead after working alone in a maintenance room at the Southampton Harbour Hotel in Ocean Village on 13 August.Christopher Wilkinson, the senior coroner for Hampshire, said that a post-mortem examination found that the 55-year-old’s cause of death was electrocution.A full inquest will be held at Winchester Coroners’ Court on 30 June 2027.Mr Gledhill, from Denton in Manchester, was described as a “true all-round club-man” by Denton St Lawrence Cricket Club.The club said that he had given "so much of himself" over the years, previously serving as a member of the club committee and dedicating considerable time to running its junior section.Mr Gledhill had been working
