Thousands of people arrive for day three of huge event in Merseyside

Thousands of people have once again descended on Royal Birkdale for The 154th Open. The championship is now into its third day on Saturday, July 18, with the final day set to take place tomorrow as one golfer takes home the Claret Jug. Bryson DeChambeau was hit with a two-shot penalty for inadvertently improving his lie by trampling down rough on the fifth hole. The American will now start the day -5 and he has since reacted to the penalty on his Instagram page. Lucas Herbert is the clubhouse leader on -8. He shot a 62 yesterday, which propelled him up the leaderboard. Southport's Tommy Fleetwood is also in contention after a very strong finish to his second round. He is -4 and just four shots off the lead at the halfway point. He will tee off at 2.35pm and is paired with Spain's Jon Rahm.
