The other challenge at Jantar Mantar: 15,000 kg of garbage everyday

Plastic bottles, paper plates and food packets line the protest site, accompanied by a constant stench.“There is no standard waste management protocol when more than 5,000 people gather every day,” said an official from New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC), in charge of managing waste in the area. “Earlier, we collected around 500-600 kg of waste from Tolstoy Marg, Sansad Marg and Jantar Mantar Road. Now we lift nearly 15,000 kg of waste every day.” To manage the waste, the NDMC has deployed extra workers in three shifts.
