Pubs were once the beating heart of the Liverpool road04:00, 18 Aug 2026In its heyday decades ago, Scotland Road pubs lined almost every one of its corners and acted as important meeting points for the hundreds living on the streets nearby. However, the road could hardly be any different today.‌Yesterday, Monday, the ECHO visited Scotland Road to see just how much the area has changed down the decades. Esther Coffey, 81, who has lived on Hopwood Street for the last 70 years told us: "We had everything along there. For instance on a Friday and Saturday, Scotland Road used to be like town, everyone was going in and out of the pubs.
