bernie sanders Chris duMond/Shutterstock The left is insane It is very interesting how Martin Gurri points out that the extremism of his former — or perhaps still his current — party forced him to vote for President Trump (“The left forces me to vote MAGA,” July 29). Despite the platitudes and the strategies he laid out, the cold, hard fact is that Democrats represent the government. Everything they do is for their own benefit, not the person on the street. That eludes him and many like him. His side was so insane he had no choice but to switch. Robert Sanfilippo N. Bellmore More MTA ripoffs Every year we learn about how the MTA is ripping off the state for overtime costs (“Runaway O.T. train,” July 29). Every year not a damn thing is done about it. That’s what happens when you vote blue.
