The Cristo Redentor Pass Between Mendoza and Santiago Is Still Closed to Cars as of 13 August 2026

The Cristo Redentor pass on Ruta 7, the main overland route between Mendoza and Santiago, has been closed to all vehicles since 14 July 2026 after heavy Andes winter snow. As of 13 August 2026 it is still shut, with authorities pointing to around 17 August only to reassess, not to guarantee a reopening.
