Tamil Nadu weavers among recipients of National Handloom Awards

Tamil Nadu has three awardees who will receive the National Handloom Awards for 2025 on August 7.A press release from the Union Ministry of Textiles said M.V. Gopinathan of Coimbatore will receive the award in the category of design development, Kovilvazhi Handloom Weavers Cooperative Society, Tiruppur, will get it for marketing of handloom products, and handloom weavers Annamalai Marimuthu and Kumaran Balaraman, of Tiruvannamalai, will get it for handwoven Kancheepuram silk sarees.The press release said they are among the 19 awardees and each of them will get a tamrapatra, shawl, and certificate from the President of India Droupadi Murmu at the National Handloom Day celebrations to be held in New Delhi on August 7.
