Swimmer dies after getting into difficulty in water near Devon

The man got into difficulty at Blackpool Sands, Strete (Picture: Google Maps) A man has died after being pulled from the sea near Devon. Emergency services were called to Blackpool Sands, Strete, on Monday afternoon where they found the swimmer after he got into difficulty in the water. The man, in his 40s and from Surrey, received treatment by paramedics but was pronounced dead at the scene. His death is not being treated as suspicious. A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said: ‘Police were called by HM Coastguard at 3.30pm on Monday August 24 following concerns for the welfare of a man at Blackpool Sands, Strete.
