It's the cheapest for a basket of shopping essentials07:47, 18 Jul 2026A supermarket has swiped the cheapest crown from Aldi after copying its 11% price cut.‌The Manchester Evening News reported last week how Aldi was working out cheapest for a basket of essential groceries for the first time since early December.‌Its bill of £13.13 made it cheaper than the other main retailers including Morrisons, Asda, Lidl, Tesco and Sainsbury's and followed its price drop on tea bags, reducing its popular Diplomat Red Label brand down from £1.85 to £1.65 for a box of 160.‌It was a move copied by both Sainsbury's and Tesco, who made the same price match cut with their Stamford Street and Stockwell brands, which are included in our comparison as it looks at the cheapest products available at each superma
