Stream It Or Skip It: ‘A Toxic Love Story’ on Netflix, a True Crime Documentary Laden with One Whopper of a Twist After Another
By John Serba Published July 23, 2026, 3:30 p.m. ET Netflix’s new gut-churner of a true crime documentary is A Toxic Love Story, a wild and twisty saga boasting multiple layers of deception and subterfuge. Twister: Caught in the Storm’s Alexandra Lacey directs, and thankfully toes the line of sensationalism without crossing it — not that that really matters, because these juicy true-crimers are big hits on Netflix whether they’re journalistically rigorous or trashy and manipulative.
