Staff call off strike at Flahavan’s oat production plant in Waterford

Workers at Flahavan’s, the leading oat producer behind well-known porridge, cereal and biscuit brands, have called off their strike in a dispute over a pay deal. Workers at the Co Waterford plant voted “unanimously” in favour of striking after what they described as the company’s “unilateral attempt to tie a new pay deal to a flexibility arrangement” that it has “neither seen nor negotiated”.Union leaders said the strike was called off after the company agreed to decouple the pay deal from the flexibility agreement. Most staff at the plant are represented by trade union Unite.About 100 Unite members will now vote on the proposed pay deal before the union negotiations turn to “all other matters”.
