Shivamogga: PG courses in city colleges closed, Vice-Chancellor defends move

A view of Sahyadri College in Shivamogga. | Photo Credit: FILE PHOTO Kuvempu University has decided to stop offering post-graduate courses at its constituent colleges in the city — Sahyadri Arts College and Sahyadri Science College — a move that has drawn the wrath of student organisations and people’s representatives.Sahyadri Arts College had been offering post-graduate courses in English, Economics and Political Science, while the neighbouring Sahyadri Science College offered MSc programmes in Biotechnology, Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Physics and a few other subjects. Students unable to travel to the university’s main campus at Shankarghatta, about 20 km from the town, had enrolled in these courses at the city colleges.Shivamogga MLA S.N.
