Scotland's 'trickiest place names' and how to pronounce them

A list of the most "tricky" place names in Scotland has been shared by VisitScotland, with the tourism board rounding up various settlements and landmarks with names that are not pronounced like they are spelt. The experts included ancient castles, islands, and villages on its list. On Sunday, August 9, VisitScotland revealed a roundup of seven destinations across the country with names that "can be tricky to pronounce". Among the locations included on the tourism board's list of difficult names are the Isle of Islay, Findochty, and Scone Palace. On its Facebook page, VisitScotland commented: "In Scotland, our place names can be tricky to pronounce–and you can't always trust the spelling! With this list, you’ll get the hang of these seven Scottish place names in time for your next holiday
