Sam Webb retires from NFL at 28 — three days after signing with Giants

Farewell, Sam Webb. We hardly knew ye. The Giants placed the 28-year-old cornerback on the reserve/retired list Sunday, three days after they signed him and a day after he played in the team’s first preseason game against the Vikings. Webb, who joined the Giants five days after he was cut by the Broncos to end a nine-day stint in Denver, had two tackles in the 13-10 loss to Minnesota at MetLife Stadium. He appeared in seven games for the Browns last season after they claimed him off the Titans’ practice squad on Nov. 19.
