Russia Test-Launches ICBM Days After CIA Chief Visits Moscow
Russia’s Strategic Missile Forces conducted a training launch of a solid-fuel intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) from the Plesetsk cosmodrome on Friday, Aug. 28. The warheads successfully hit their designated targets on the Kamchatka Peninsula. While the specific missile was unnamed, Russia’s solid-fuel arsenal primarily consists of Topol and Yars systems, which possess a 10,500-kilometer range and form 56% of the country’s strategic land-based nuclear arsenal.
