Russia Redeploys Air Defense From Arctic Circle to Fend Off Ukrainian Drones

Satellite images show that Russian air defense near the Arctic’s Rogachevo air base, seen in 2015, is no longer visible in 2026, while those in Severodvinsk are removed sometime after August 2024. At the same time, areas near the Saratov oil refinery saw a spike in air defense batteries in August 2025, when the area had been empty just two years prior.
