Remand prisoner attempts to end life in Repalle Sub-Jail
A remand prisoner allegedly attempted to end his life by slashing his throat with a vegetable-cutting knife inside the kitchen of the Repalle Sub-Jail on Wednesday.The prisoner, V. Srinivasa Rao, was arrested on July 5 in connection with the murder of an elderly woman and was subsequently remanded in judicial custody. Police said he had surrendered at a police station in connection with the murder case.According to the police, Mr. Srinivasa Rao entered the jail kitchen in the morning to open a bag of rice. He allegedly picked up a vegetable-cutting knife kept there and slashed his throat. Jail staff noticed him bleeding heavily and immediately shifted him to the Repalle Government Hospital.After preliminary treatment, he was referred to the Tenali Government Hospital as his condition was s
